“If the recipe sucks, it doesn’t matter how good a cook you are”.
To me, foolishness lies in believing that the issue is with you when it actually isn't. Consider the systems, time frames, surroundings, and guidelines involved. There is inevitably a flaw, regardless of how minor it may be.
That is why it is crucial to establish your own principles and defy the status quo.
Create your own rules.

“It is far more lucrative and fun to leverage your strengths instead of attempting to fix all the chinks in your armor. The choice is between multiplication of results using strengths or incremental improvement fixing weaknesses that will, at best, become mediocre. Focus on better use of your best weapons instead of constant repair.”

“What information consumes is rather obvious: It consumes the attention of its recipients. Hence, a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention and a need to allocate that attention efficiently among the overabundance of information sources that might consume it.”
- Herbert Simon
“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “ If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?”
And whenever the answer has been “NO” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something… almost everything - all expectations, pride, all fear of embarrassment or failures - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.
Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.”
- Steve Jobs, college dropout, and CEO of Apple Computer, Stanford University Commencement, 2005.
Last but Not Least:
“Once you realize that you can turn off the noise without the world ending, you’re liberated in a way that few people ever know.
Just remember: If you don’t have attention, you don’t have time.”
- Time Ferris
“Be focused on work or focused on something else, never in between.
Time without attention is worthless, so value attention over time.”
- Tim Ferris
“Don’t accept large or costly favors from strangers.”

“One of the most universal causes of self-doubt and depression: trying to impress people you don’t like. Stressing to impress is fine, but do it for the right people - those you want to emulate.”
- Tim Ferris
“Adversity doesn’t build character; it reveals it.
Related: Money doesn’t change you; it reveals who you are when you no longer have to be nice.
It doesn’t matter how many people don’t get it. What matter is how many people do. If you have a strong informed opinion, don’t keep it to yourself. Try to help people and make the world a better place.
If you attempt to do anything remotely interesting, just expect a small percentage of the population to always find a way to take it personally.
F*ck’em.
There are no status erected to critics.”
- Tim Ferris
“A good question to revisit whenever overwhelmed: are you having a breakdown or a breakthrough?
Rehearse poverty regularly - restrict even moderate expenses for 1-2 weeks and give away 20% of minimally used clothing - so you can think big and take “risks” without fear (Seneca).”
This book, eye-opening as it is was related to business. I couldn’t help but see through the deeper conscious work that building systems, routines, and focus require.
It isn’t a simple how-to-guide about escaping your 9-5, working for 4 hours a week, and becoming rich. This is the book that opens the door to a new way of life. A life only a few see viable and live it.
This book is filled with golden nuggets such as the ones that we just went through.
It’s time.
Time to get to work.
much love,
J.
